Kutub Uddin Ahmed, the father of the four brothers, was in the catering industry for almost 35 years. His restaurant, Noor Jahan was opened in the 1950s and was one of the first few Indian restaurants in London. The four brothers Saleh, Musleh, Muflay and Tufayel Ahmed decided to settle in the South West in the city of Bristol. They established their first restaurant, the well known British Raj, in 1982 before selling it almost 15 years later.
The Bengal Raj, which was opened in 1998 by four brothers, is a highly praised and recommended Indian restaurant. It was founded by Saleh, Musleh, Muflay and Tufayel Ahmed and since its opening they have received many awards for it’s great dining experience.
It is located on the outskirts of the Downs, in a tranquil and peaceful residential area.
With its themed interior you really do get an authentic feel from the Bengal Raj that you actually have gone out for a slice of Indian, and not just a meal. Hot on prices accompanying a great surrounding, the restaurant is the best place for a taste of Indian cuisine.
Combined with its great atmosphere the Bengal Raj is a fun and friendly place to eat. With its extensive menu and great service you are sure to come back time after time to dine at this wonderfully authentic Indian delight.
